My New AireCut

Here's my new AireCut!

Ma says she still has to trim my snooter and leggies
(some doggie doesn't like sittin' still long enough to do a full grooming...☺ )

Butts she needs your help ~

She found some dry patches on my tail.

It's my allergies.  I am already takin' the Benadryl,

butts the vettie said I should take some FISH OIL too.

Now, Ma's head almost exploded when she saw all the choices.

If everyone could chime in on what you use, what has worked best...

how about COCONUT OIL?    Any thoughts on that?

Oh, and keep this in mind......

The smell of fishes makes Ma GAG !!!!

Seriously.

I thinks she almost tossed her cookies when she gave me some tuna once!

Whimp.

Anyhu,

My itchy hinnie would appreciate all of your input!!

Thanks puppers and kittehs!!

Now....

I knows margaritas are good for the skin, right?

* * * * *

Oh, don't forgets...

There's gonna be foodables (by the one and only Chef Sasha) and drinkies (by MOI !!)

and lots and lots of fun!

Oh, and some business too....

If you have any questions for the Candy Dates,

  2. Oh I think I read somewhere that margaritas are very good for ichies. At least if you have enough of them. You totally forget that you have ichies if you do. Butt you know what my local friends do???? HONEY. Yep honey. BUTT here is the thing it MUST be local to your area raw honey. Just have the mom slip it into you foodables. Seems that local raw honey (specifically the local bees collect the pollen and make there sweet honey with it. And that localness helps doggies with the ichies). You might like the taste better than fish oil, or at least your mom might like the smell better. On another note: what do you do with your hair trimmings? I mean, do you think a certain Goose could make a soft, comfy pillow out of it? Just curious.
    Blessings,
    Goose

  4. I can't have either-it's my darn low fat diet. The peeps love coconut oil and its good for you. Just because they're the same color, don't even think about replacing the tequila in the 'ritas with any oil.

  5. Sorry you have the itchies!!! Perhaps you need to salt the rim of your glass? Maybe you need to alter the lime to tequila ratio?

  6. That's a shame your mum gets erky with the fish smell. Our Vet, and you have to love her, suggested that we get some sardines in oil every fortnight. Scotties often get dry skin. Anyway, we have beautiful skin.

  7. Me and Finley both get some EFA oil on our foodz.

Although I've heard margaritas help dry skin. At least dat are my story.

  8. Lookin' good Ruby!! Sardines are great and so is coconut oil. Don't know how they work on allergies though. I'm lucky with my skin. No itchies!!

  10. We get fish oil and vitamin E and we get coconut oil too. Mom was at the vet's 2 days ago and he told her to be careful how much coconut oil we're getting because it's high in fat and calories and it will send your blood work through the ceiling. We'll be careful because we hate the word "diet"!
You look just beautiful, Ruby ☺

    Love ya lots♥

  11. The salmon oil we used did not help to make my dry spots better. we used vetericyn when it was sore and strangely we made the best experiences with milking grease...thats also not bad for my paws

  12. Ooooh..you new doo looks so snazzy. As fur the itchies ... Team BeagleBratz's mommy once recommended Duralactin. It's made for aches and pains, but it works wonders for allergies too. My sissy, Sarah, used to chew herself bald twice a year from environmental allergies. Since being on Duralactin, no more itchies and no more bald spots.

  13. Hey Ruby.... we gotta say that your Ma is getting BETTER at doing your Furs Stealing... Looking GOOD girrrl.
NOW... we had TWO suggestions about your itchies... butt we see that Goose has already covered the LOCAL RAW HONEY one... really well. So we will talk about the Coconut Oil...
THAT stuffs TASTES GRRRRREAT and We have been getting it IN OUR WET KIBBLE DINNERS since MARCH and we think our FURS are lookin FINE and it has really helped with MY (F.Furter) dry skin.
BUTT WAIT ..... There's MORE.... Coconut Oil can actually be RUBBED RIGHT ON your itchy dry places too... YES.... you can EAT it... and it will work... butt it takes a good while to see any differences... BUTT when Rubbed right in... it would work much faster... Our mom has rubbed it into her DRY HEAD FURS...
WE get ours in a big jar at SAM's Club... where it is MUCH Cheaper...
Our mom also uses it to Fry Pancakes and stuffs...
If your Ma wants to ALSO try the LOCAL Honey... she will have to go to a farmers market or somethingy like that... to find it... what is sold in stores is NOT RAW and Not considered LOCAL...
    Hope this helps..

  14. we actually by salmon based kibble and Mom gives us lots of salmon treats....that helped our dry skin so much. Be careful with coconut oil....it gave us both the runs and mom only have 1/4 of the recommended dose.

  17. Well, Goose and Frankie already shared our TOP TIPS! Mom actually read about the local honey thing on BrownDog Hawk's bloggie cuz he had terribles allergies. Mom and I both eat local honey now, and it has helped my eye goobers and her general sniffiness in the morning. And yes, coconut oil - mom buys it at Trader Joe's. She started off by just putting a little on a cookie and then adding it to my brekkie. YUM. I'm gonna try to get her to rub some into my furs like Frankie gets, tho, cuz the prednisone I take really dries out my skins and my furs. Have a fun weekend, Ruby!!

  21. Mom's been thinking about trying coconut oil since she keeps hearing lots of good things about it, but we do get fish oil, same stuff as Mom and Dad, 1000-1200 mg once a day. We also get tuna fish in oil added to our kibble once or twice a week. Hope that helps.

  22. Rubes, I can't stand to think of you with an itchy butt! I have itches also and Mommy has tried a bunch of stuff, but nothing seems to help. I do get benedryl and that helps sometimes. Let me know if you find a solution. Can you mix Rubyritas and benedryl??

  23. You look boo-ti-full!! When we were baby puppies the dogtur said fish oil was good for doggies so dad would just drop some on our food. BUTT mom could NOT stand the stink so she made dad stop. That is all we know, sorry! We hope your tail stops itching! (Pssst . . . . did you need me to scratch it hee . . . hee!) CHERRY BOMB!

  24. Well, here is what we get, it's for our wonderful Scotties Coats, Mom gives us about three pumps from a small bottle of coconut oil on our kibble and pumpkin dinner every day, oh doggies we gots the softest fur coats!

Say ...maybe Mom needs to try an exorcism to chase the ghost away pulling out your furs, Don't laugh, it could work!

  25. Coconut oil/flakes are yummy! I like the ones from PupChips that came in either a BarkBox or a PetBox, I forgot which one exactly. I don't know if it is a substitute for fish oil though. I know some pals get both. Welly Tails has a good fish oil we are testing. My mom hates the smell of fish, but I like it. BOL! I like stinky stuff. Mom just holds her breath and turns her nose away when she gives me fishy stuff. Mom thinks doggy anal gland juice stinks like fish, so maybe that is why it grosses her out. BOL!

  27. I think you look great!!! We have lots of doggy allergies in our house so I'll offer up what's worked here. Claritin works better than Benedryl for R. And, we use Nature Made Fish Oil (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GJVD1Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It is expensive but it has a very important little emblem on it that says "USP" which means that it's been tested to show that it does have the oils it claims to have and it doesn't have contaminants like mercury. R has to take a very high dose of it... so we buy the high potency kind. There are less expensive versions of the same thing, with lower doses of Omega-3 fatty acids.

  28. Oh Rubie, just love the "aire"cut! You look stunning! We do use both Omega 3 fish oil (Nutramaxx) and organic virgin olive oil. I just recently did two posts on coconut oil, if you'd like to read them: http://fivesibes.blogspot.com/2014/08/were-cuckoo-for-coconut-oil-featuring.html and also about the brand we use here: http://fivesibes.blogspot.com/2014/08/tropical-traditions-brand-coconut-oil.html.

  32. It's a very itchy year. My vet recommended Zyrtec, saying it works better than Benadryl. For itchy places and hot spots, lots of Airedale people apply Gold Bond powder or cream on the dog and wine in the human.

  33. I've never had any issues with smells from fish oil...and it does help the pup's skin
